SafetyChain Software and The Acheson Group Release 2016 FSMA Readiness and Compliance Strategy Survey Report

FSMA survey assessed how prepared the food industry is for FSMA and the impact FSMA compliance is having on organizations

SafetyChain Software, leaders in food safety and quality management solutions and The Acheson Group, a strategic consulting firm for food and beverage companies are pleased to announce the release of its “2016 FSMA Readiness and Compliance Strategy” Survey Report. The report highlights key findings from the survey, designed to assess how prepared organizations are for FSMA and the strategies and tools being deployed to ensure compliance.

There were approximately 400 survey responders representing food and beverage companies primarily in the United States and throughout the food supply chain.

Findings from the 2016 FSMA Readiness report included insights on how ready individuals felt their companies were for FSMA and resource plans being implemented to ensure FSMA compliance.

  • Approximately 85% indicated they understood which FSMA rules applies to their companies; however as noted in report – recommended companies should revisit their assumptions based on answers to subsequent questions
  • 66% have or are conducting a gap analysis to determine how current food safety plans meet FSMA requirements
  • 44% were unsure if they were going to have to hire more staff to manage FSMA requirements
  • 75-80% of companies were considering, implementing or have in place already technology to assist with FSMA Compliance – such as audit management, supplier compliance, document management and food safety and program management
