SafetyChain Software FSMA Fridays June 26 Session Recording on Supply Chain Risk Controls and Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) Now Available

New Session Topics Now Posted for SafetyChain’s popular FSMA Fridays series with Dr. David Acheson and The Acheson Group

SafetyChain Software, leaders in Food Safety Chain Management Systems that Automate, Streamline & Improve Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA)™, is pleased to announce topics for its FSMA Fridays sessions through December, 2015. In addition, the recording is now available from the FSMA Fridays June session, “Supply Chain Risk Controls and the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program.”

FSMA Fridays is an online, interactive forum that helps the food and beverage industry stay up-to-date on FDA’s Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA); examines the impact FSMA rules will have on food safety and quality operations; and provides guidance on how to prepare for FSMA compliance. It is estimated that more than 80 percent of food and beverage companies will have to comply with FSMA.

The popular monthly series, which has attracted more than 2,000 ongoing registrants, features FSMA icon Dr. David Acheson and The Acheson Group’s food safety team, who address pre-submitted and live questions from the audience, on a schedule of FSMA related topics.

The June FSMA Fridays session began with a general update on FSMA, followed by discussion topics on Supply Chain Risk Controls and Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) including:

  • Basic principles of the VQIP
  • Where VQIP comes into FSMA’s supply chain risk controls
  • How to apply for the VQIP
  • The impact of new FSMA changes on the Foreign Supplier Verification Program
  • The impact VQIP will have on companies – even though the FDA is not stopping a company’s imports
  • How to best approach supply chain risk controls for FSMA compliance and brand protection
